According to a NAN report, the proposed visit of President Buhari to Cross River State for the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a 260km superhighway has been cancelled. It stated that the decision to postpone the ceremony was communicated to the governor in a letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.
“The presidency attributed the shift to a letter written to the president by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Environment, Nana Fatima Mede. “She claimed that the proposed highway, if allowed to go on, would cut through the Cross River National Park. “The letter claimed that the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) on the proposed road was yet to be carried out,” the statement said. But Mr. Ita stated that the proposed road would not traverse the Cross River National Park, as the superhighway would be several kilometres away from the national park.
“Based on the input of the Cross River National Park, the road has since been re-routed with the alignment now several kilometers away from the park. “As a governor who is passionate about the preservation of the state’s biodiversity with his establishment of the Green Police, he would not embark on a project that would undermine the environment,” Mr. Ita stated. He said the EIA report on the road was being handled by environmental consultants, PGM (Nig) Limited recommended to the state by the Federal Ministry of Environment. Mr. Ita said the governor would work closely with the presidency to clear areas of doubt, adding that a new date for the ceremony would be announced later.

Photos: Conjoined Ugandan twins separated in a 16-hour operation...
Doctors at a central Ohio hospital, Nationwide Children's Hospital, have successfully separated conjoined 11-month-old twin girls in a 16-hour operation. The twins were born attached at the pelvic and hip region. A statement released by a public relations agency says that Acen and Apio were recovering at the children's hospital after the complex procedure that lasted 16 hours last Thursday.
After being told the surgery was successful, the mother of the twins Esther Akello threw up her arms before giving Dr. Besner an emotional hug.
"The parents' faces when you tell them the babies are separated is something that you will never get out of your mind," Besner said. "You will remeber it for the rest of your life" she added.
The operation was conducted by a surgical team of more than 30 specialists. They undertook a delicate job of separating the spinal cord after identifying which muscles and nerves belonged to Acen and Apio, Gail Besner, the chief of Pediatric Surgery at hospital explained.
Highlighting the complexity of the operation, Besner said tissue expanders had to be placed underneath the twins’ skin earlier this year to prepare for their separation. The twins are expected to stay longer at the hospital before returning home since the will both need to have one additional surgery to remove their colostomies which they have had since shortly after birth.
According to the statement, two neurosurgeons focused on one sister each and assisted each other to delicately divide their intertwined spinal cords. The specialists also performed operations to create an anal opening for each of the twins since neither twin was born with the organ.
Pioneering technology including pre-operative 3D modeling, as well as intra-operative neurophysiological monitoring, were used during the operation, the statement revealed.
Jeffrey Leonard, the chief of neurosurgery at Nationwide Children’s said imaging helped guide the medical team’s understanding of the twins’ anatomy. The twins' mother praised the work done by the hospital saying: "Without Children's Hospital of Colorado, neither of my daughters would have has a chance"

Looks like Chris Brown may have been robbed by his own gang...
Last month Chris Brown's home in Calabasas was broken into by armed bandits who tied up his aunt, stole money and jewelry. New evidence suggests Chris may have been robbed by a street gang called Bloods that he is affiliated to. TMZ reports after the cut...
There's a hot lead on who robbed Chris Brown of $50,000 ... and our sources say they're closing in on a few known associates of the Bloods. Law enforcement tells TMZ, they have video of the car that fled Chris' Tarzana house after the robbers held a gun to his aunt's head and made off with the $50k. Some good detective work led cops to a gas station near Chris' home, where they checked surveillance video and saw the getaway car.
Our sources say cops now have a partial license plate, which has led them to Compton and someone who may be a member of the Bloods, a group in which Chris has had ties. Detectives are interviewing some of the locals and we're told they're closing in on the culprits.
